Sweater suits and two-piece sets
Knitted sweater suits with matching trousers, in sizes from newborn upwards. Two-piece sets give you more control than a romper: you can remove the top layer indoors without changing the whole outfit.
Winter dresses and frocks
Rabbit wool dresses with bell-bottom flappers, collar bows and net detailing, mostly in the 3 to 18 month range. Warm enough for daily wear but styled for occasions.

How Much Warmth Do You Actually Need?
Pakistan does not have one winter, and buying the wrong weight is the most common mistake.
Karachi, Hyderabad and coastal Sindh — Winter here means cool evenings rather than genuine cold. A single flannel or light ribbed layer is usually enough. Heavy polyester-filled suits will make a baby sweat, and a sweaty baby in cold air gets sick faster than a slightly cool one.
Lahore, Faisalabad and central Punjab — Real winter from December to February, with damp cold mornings. Rabbit wool sweater suits and mid-weight rompers work for most days, with something heavier for early mornings and evenings.
Islamabad, Peshawar and the north — Sustained cold. Polyester-filled rompers and proper layering are needed, not optional. Buy for outdoor use even if you mostly stay indoors, because indoor heating is inconsistent.
Layering a Baby for Winter
The standard guidance is one more layer than an adult would wear in the same conditions. In practice that means a cotton vest against the skin, a warm suit or romper over it, and an outer layer only when going outside.
Check warmth by feeling the back of the neck, not the hands or feet. Hands and feet run cool on babies and are a poor guide. If the neck is sweaty, remove a layer.
Avoid thick outer layers under car seat straps. Bulky padding stops the harness sitting tight against the body, which makes it far less effective. Strap the baby in first, then place a blanket over the top.

When should I start buying winter clothes for my baby?
September and October. Sizes sell out fastest in the middle of the season, and buying early means you get the size you actually need rather than whatever is left. It also gives you time to exchange if the fit is wrong.
What size should I buy if my baby is growing fast?
Go one size up. A winter suit needs to last the whole season, and a slightly loose fit is warmer than a tight one because it traps a layer of air. Tight winter clothes also restrict movement, which babies resist.
Is rabbit wool suitable for a newborn?
Yes. Rabbit wool blends used in baby clothing are soft and non-scratchy, and give warmth without the bulk of thicker knits. As with any new clothing, wash it once before the first wear.
Can my baby sleep in a winter romper?
A lighter romper is generally safer than loose blankets for infants. Choose a thinner style for sleeping so your baby does not overheat, keep the room ventilated, and do not add a hood or cap for sleep.
