How to Choose Baby Caps and Hats
A cap does two different jobs depending on the season, and the wrong one causes more discomfort than no cap at all.
Summer caps
In summer the cap is for shade, not warmth. Thin cotton, light colours, and a loose fit that lets air move. Turban caps and knot caps are popular here because they sit close without pressing, and they stay put on a baby who pulls at things. Avoid anything thick or synthetic in Karachi and Hyderabad heat — a hot head makes a baby fussy quickly.
Winter caps
In winter the cap is doing real work. Babies lose a significant amount of heat through the head, and a woolen or knitted cap makes a bigger difference than an extra layer on the body. Look for a cap that covers the ears fully. For a proper cold-weather range see baby winter caps.
One safety point worth knowing
Do not leave a cap on a sleeping baby indoors in a warm room. Babies regulate their temperature partly through the head, and an over-warm baby is a genuine risk. Cap on for going out, cap off when sleeping inside. Check the back of the neck — if it feels damp, remove a layer.
Cap sets
Several of our caps come as sets with matching bibs, socks or mittens. These work well as gifts and save you buying each piece separately. Sizes usually run 0-6 months, 6-12 months, and 1-3 years.
Common Questions
Does a newborn need a cap indoors?
Usually not, unless the room is genuinely cold. Newborns are often capped indoors out of habit in Pakistan, but in a warm room it can cause overheating.
What size cap should I order?
Caps are sold by age range rather than head measurement. Order to your baby's current age — a cap that is slightly loose is better than one that leaves a mark on the forehead.
Are woolen caps itchy for babies?
Rabbit wool and soft knitted blends are not. Coarse wool can irritate, which is why we stock soft-finish caps and lined styles for newborns.
Do you deliver caps all over Pakistan?
Yes, with cash on delivery nationwide. Caps are light and often ordered alongside a winter collection purchase.
