How to Choose Baby Socks

Socks look like a simple purchase, and then you discover that half of them do not stay on. Three things decide whether a pair actually works.

Buy more pairs than feels sensible

Baby socks go missing constantly — in the wash, in the car seat, in the pram. Most parents underestimate and end up reordering within a month. Six to eight pairs is a realistic starting point for a newborn. Our multi-pair packs and the 7-day gift set exist for exactly this reason.

Match the sole to the stage

Not yet standing — plain cotton socks are all you need. Soft, breathable, easy to wash.

Standing and cruising — switch to non-slip rubber sole socks. Tiled and marble floors are common in Pakistani homes and plain socks slide badly on them. Sole socks give grip without the stiffness of shoes.

Walking outdoors — this is when actual shoes make sense. Browse baby shoes and footwear once your baby is walking properly outside.

Summer and winter are different socks

Thin cotton for summer — anything thick traps sweat, and a damp sock left on is worse than no sock. For winter, plush and fleece-lined socks hold heat at the feet, which is where babies lose warmth fastest. Pair them with a woolen cap on cold days.

Getting socks to stay on

Look for a ribbed cuff that grips the ankle rather than a plain elastic band. Booties with an ankle tie or a soft velcro strap stay on far better than pull-on socks for babies under six months, who kick them off within minutes.

Common Questions

What size socks does a newborn need?

Most newborn socks are sold as 0-6 months or 0-12 months rather than by foot length. Buy 0-6 months for a newborn and expect to move up around the six-month mark.

Are non-slip socks safe for babies who are not walking yet?

Yes, they are safe at any stage — they are simply unnecessary before a baby starts standing. Plain cotton is more comfortable until then.

How many pairs of socks should I buy for a newborn?

Six to eight pairs. Newborns are changed several times a day and socks are the item most likely to be lost or soiled.

Do you deliver socks and booties across Pakistan?

Yes, we deliver nationwide with cash on delivery. Socks and small accessories ship quickly and are often added to a larger newborn order.
